I needed to be a Mum
To truly understand

You always made me feel
Warm, safe protected
Your hug could light up
The bleakest day
I’ve said and done things
Growing up I wish I’d never done
But Mum… you’ve never once
held it against me
And now I realise
What it means to be a Mum
I understand how much you gave of yourself
Thank you Mum
Because you’ve taught me to give too
Unconditionally, wholeheartedly
And so love passes on…
My only wish on this Mother’s Day
Is that I be as wonderful a Mum as you!
